Full Body Freeze
For many decades across many cultures, generations have used cold therapy to improve metal strength and physical health and wellbeing. There are different types of cold therapy from using an ice pack, taking a cold shower, having an ice bath and a full body freeze - also known as whole body cryotherapy. Each treatment offers a different treatment and different benefits. What exactly is a full body freeze?
What is a cryo treatment?
Cryotherapy (also known as cryo, full body freeze or WBC) is a painless, non invasive and quick treatment that will leave you feeling like you have had a massage and a few coffees in the space of 3 minutes. Cryotherapy will leave you feeling subtle, focused, fresh, pain free and energetic.
When having your treatment, you will be provided with gloves, socks, special shoes and a robe. You will then stand for the duration of treatment and chat with a staff member to talk you through the treatment. There is nothing that you will need to do during your session other than turn when prompted to do so.
Why Should I Have a Body Freeze?
During the treatment, skin is exposed to temperatures below zero for up to 3 minutes. Cold therapy initiates hormonal responses which provides a range of health benefits. These include
- Enhance sleep hygiene
- Reduction of inflammation and swelling
- Help to prevent injury
- Boost immune system
- Reduce stress
- Help improve recovery
- Weight loss
Supports healthy blood pressure and circulation
This process helps improves oxygen and nutrient circulation, increases collagen production, boosts metabolism, promotes pain reduction and anti-inflammatory responses plus helps flush toxins from the skin, muscle tissue and joints.
Full body freezing gets to much colder temeratures than other forms of cold therapy which provides additonal benefits however surprisingly so is more tolerable.
During a full body freeze the temperature drops slowly and you remain completley dry throughout. It feels kind of like a cold spray tan or stepping into a cool room in a kitchen which gradually gets colder. Its not the same shock your body will feels as if it was diving into cold water.
The other benefit is that you can go straight back to life - work, training, competing without any downtime.
